The weekend before last I went out to the Kelpies sculptures at Helix park near Grangemouth. It was a pretty overcast day but these are a couple of images I took. They stand over 30metres high and sculptor Andy Scott based them on two of the clydesdale horses at Pollock Country Park in Glasgow. Duke is on the left and Baron is on the right.

 I went on the tour they do and was able to go inside one of the sculptures.  The interior shot is of Duke and you can see the interior support work - looking up inside the neck . Apparently 464 individual stainless steel plates were used - no two are the same.

 

 

Thought I would re activate this blog today (after many years !), kicking off with photograph of solar eclipse I took in Glasgow this morning. It was so cloudy here that I had given up in getting any kind of image. Then just as I had packed up my tripod, camera etc there was a break in the clouds and I was able to grab a few hand held shots - this being one of them.
